How to Choose a Fishing Boat?

Fishing is a true pleasure. And it's not just about the catch, but the entire process: tranquility, excitement, unity with nature, healing of soul and body. It has been proven that fishing improves coordination, boosts vitality, develops patience and focus, stimulates creative thinking, and helps to escape everyday life.

Why do fishermen choose inflatable boats?

An inflatable boat opens up new horizons for a fisherman. And compared to rigid hulls — it has many advantages:

  • Lightweight, compact, easy to transport and store
  • Low maintenance: just rinse, dry, and store in a warm room
  • High strength and durability of modern materials
  • Load capacity and performance at the level (and sometimes even better) than rigid hulls
  • No issues with rust, cracks, or painting

The market offers a wide selection of inflatable boats of various sizes and configurations. BARK offers models that have long earned the trust of fishermen in Ukraine — both in terms of quality and functionality.

How to choose a boat for your needs?

When choosing a fishing boat, ask yourself these questions: Do you fish alone or with a group? What kind of fishing do you prefer – with a rod, bottom fishing, trolling? What is the water area – a small lake or a big river? How do you plan to transport the boat to the water?

The answers to these will help you choose the optimal model just for you.

1. Taking fishing habits into account

If you fish alone — a compact boat, such as the B-190, might be the ideal option. It’s even used by those who fish from the shore, allowing precise delivery of gear or bait.

Love comfort? Choose models with flooring and seats. If you plan to stand, a boat with slats or solid flooring is suitable. In BARK, the thoughtful placement of slats allows comfortable standing while fishing. You can also add extra slats or gear – seats, anchor, oars.

For greater convenience, even a solo fisherman is recommended to choose a two-person boat — the cockpit is more spacious. Fishing as a pair? Consider a three-person boat. Often fish in a group? An eight-person boat is perfect – for example, a BARK model where multiple spinning anglers can fish comfortably at once.

2. Rowing or motor-powered?

A rowboat is the optimal choice if you don’t plan to use a motor. But keep in mind: converting a rowboat into a motorboat isn’t the best idea. Even if the models look similar, they have different technical characteristics, and trying to install a hanging transom may cause issues.

A motorboat allows you to fish in large water areas and explore new methods — like trolling. You don't necessarily need a powerful engine — a low-powered (so-called trolling) motor is often enough. It lets you quickly reach favorite spots or glide smoothly while fishing.

3. Engine power and trolling

Trolling doesn’t require high speed – a low-powered motor is sufficient. It provides steady movement and allows quick access to fishing spots. Boats with both hanging and built-in transoms can be considered.

If you plan to travel long distances or need speed – a more powerful motor and, accordingly, a larger boat is needed. It’s heavier but more comfortable: for instance, eight-person BARK boats allow even four spinning anglers to settle comfortably.

We are confident — among BARK boats, you will find exactly the inflatable boat that makes your fishing experience as comfortable and exciting as possible.
